Boston 2nd Empire Brownstone

This enchanting 24 feet wide, 4 story row house has been originally divided to small rooms, tiny washrooms and an 80 square feet kitchen below the stairs at back. 

The goal of the re-design was to infuse the owners life-style of culinary hosting. 
For that purpose walls on the main floor came down and the kitchen was moved from the backside of the house into the middle of the floor plan to instantly emerge as the heart of this residence. 

A mud room and a door to a new deck are now filling the spot of the old kitchen. The clear circulation path from the main entrance to the deck door and the alteration of the floor plan into a single Great Room allows for natural light to penetrate the structure throughout the day and the changing seasons.
In this configuration as functions share the total floor area the space seems greater than it is.

Work included alteration of 4 stories layouts, new kitchen, new systems, doors, windows and finishes. Historic wood details and hardware were preserved and juxtapose the contemporary styled elements and color scheme that the the owner elected to use. A deck and a new door to the deck were fashioned to fit the historic structure.

offer a year round celebration of nature in a tightly knit neighborhood  a few miles from downtown Boston.

Brown Formal Dining

A vitrine (two-way glass cabinet) has been built into an opening at center of the kitchen/dining room wall. Both spaces, the kitchen and the formal dining room get more natural light for a longer period of the day. The glass cabinet provides ample serving storage that can be accessed from both the kitchen and the dining end.

Master Suite Dressing Room

Walk in closet, with built in open-shelving storage, drawer-storage and rod suspended storage. Island @ center provides additional storage and folding surface. Interior window allows access to a two way closet that's at the back of the laundry room so that item can be folded in laundry room and picked up from the dressing room end. A Floor to ceiling mirror @ window end allows to view outfits in natural day light, Mirror in closet nook provides additional dress-up and make-up station as well as reflects light coming in from windows across the room. Built in bench located @ mirror nook by the shoe storage area. space constructed in traditional detailing and contemporary color scheme.
